Many speculations have gone up during this time of crisis. A lot of so-called economists have gone viral on social media about the hot topic of the economy not just the Philippines but the whole international stock market. So the question is the Philippines going to have a recession on COVID-19 pandemic is a very concerning question.
The answer to this question is, “No”, said by Mike Manuel the Chief Market Development Officer of Sun Life Financial. He has mentioned several factors such as the good Fundamental of the Phil Stock Market, good supply of Banko Central ng Pilipinas and the Corporate funds is currently positive.
If you are an investor what will you do? What is your appreciation for this on-going uncertainty of the market? If we get to the technical side of investing, there is always a “risk” and no-one can determine the exact high and low value of stocks. So its time to revisit your risk profile today. If you are uncomfortable taking the drop of the stocks it’s time for you to make the switch.
What is our willingness to take the risk?
When market is high a lot of us go with index funds? We are always looking at the good side of that stocks that it will do good. However, when the market is down, we feel the real score of who we really are as an investor. We tend to get shaky and feel uncertain.
Actually, now is a good time to measure your risk profile. What your risk profile when the market is high, should also be the risk profile when the market is down, Mike Manuel added. If you are my client, you can send me note if you are willing to switch your risk profile.
Do I invest now?
So when is the best time to invest? Do I invest now? In general, when you go to the supermarket and you see the price of the item is low you rush to buy. This goes the same way with our Stock Market, we buy the stock depending on our capability. So today is the best time to invest! We just need to make sure our ability to take risk. If you consider to-invest for long term there will be no other way for the stock but to change its course of going up. I have noted this on the basic investing tip. If you don’t decide to invest now, you might be left out. You might miss the boat.
If you have VUL linked products, continue keeping your accounts active. You can use this to sustain in an event of uncertainty. Sun Life Financial has issued an 91 days extension of premium settlement for those due dates falling from Feb 15 – March 31, 2020.
